SAN FRANCISCO (July 19, 2022) – eDRV, the world’s first developer API platform for network management and building driver applications for EV charging, appoints ex. Volta Charging and Tesla official, Andrew Cornelia, as Senior Advisor. eDRV serves as cloud-hosted infrastructure for the most innovative EV charging networks. With Andrew joining as advisor, it is poised to scale its charging network solutions to broader adoption by enterprise customers.

Andrew is a first principles operator and strategic leader, bringing almost a decade’s experience in the electric mobility and EV charging industries, holding high-level roles in strategy, finance, operations, and business development. Before coming on board at eDRV, Cornelia headed Corporate Strategy and Development at Volta Charging, where his leadership assisted Volta Charging to grow 5x in three years, raise more than $700 million in funding, and go public on the NYSE (VLTA) with a maximum market valuation of over $2 billion. While at Volta, Andrew also held the position of Chief of Staff to the CEO.

In 2017, prior to Volta, Andrew led strategic finance for Tesla's Global Charging business line where he served as the primary architect in designing the transformation from a cost center into a profit center. The initiative is now being rolled out as Tesla opens their Supercharger network to non-Tesla vehicles and begins to implement more sophisticated pricing, customer acquisition, and driver experience strategies.

"The EV charging industry needs flexible and scalable tools to ensure the infrastructure we build is fully reliable and interoperable. eDRV is building the critical operating layer for charging networks, lowering barriers to entry so that no segment is left behind."

Climate visionary

Andrew’s vision for the future of EV capabilities has seen him appointed as a public official to the city of Sausalito, California on sustainability matters, a Clean Tech fellow at On Deck, and a mentor and advisor for a broad network of startups across the cleantech industry. With his strong expertise in EV charging businesses and hands-on experience scaling companies from early startups through to later stage growth, Cornelia’s contribution as Senior Advisor to eDRV is projected to assist the company in achieving its imminent and longer-term goals.

"For eDRV to achieve our global goals of reducing tailpipe emissions within the next couple of decades, an estimated 500mm of chargers and over $1.4tn in cumulative charging infrastructure investment will be required. With such a sprawling and diverse problem ahead of us, the industry needs flexible and scalable tools to ensure the infrastructure we build is fully reliable and interoperable,” Andrew states. “eDRV is building the critical operating layer for reliable and available EV charging networks, simultaneously lowering barriers to entry for those same infrastructure services so that no segment is left behind."

Andrew continues, "eDRV's partnerships with leaders in the EV space, such as Smartcar for vehicle APIs and AmpControl for fleet optimization, demonstrate the company’s open and flexible approach in bringing the latest charging technology and functionality directly to an increasingly diverse customer base. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to join the team and help eDRV continue its path towards building market-leading products and services that will both accelerate the broader industry transition to electric mobility and ensure critical charging infrastructure operates at peak performance.”
